The HyBRO-CAP project brings together a core team of five researchers, comprising the Principal Investigator (PI), two postdoctoral researchers, and two PhD students.
The project is supported by a broad network of collaborations with scientists and research groups at the local, national, and international levels, bringing together complementary expertise essential to achieving its scientific objectives.
Paola Albanese, PhD
Paola received her PhD in Chemical and Molecular Sciences from the University of Bari, Italy, in 2022. Her doctoral research focused on the bottom-up construction of multicompartment synthetic cells designed to convert light energy into chemical energy to power internal metabolic pathways. She then continued her research as a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Siena, where she developed stimuli-responsive synthetic cells for drug delivery applications. She recently returned to the University of Bari, where she established her own research group. She is currently leading the HyBRO-CAP research project which focuses on CO2 fixation and energy production in biohybrid synthetic cells.
